Nice portrait ! I suppose you have used a microscope objective for this picture. But with which magnification ? 4x ?

Actually this one was shot with the old Olympus 38mm f2.8 macro bellows lens, at close to minimum bellows extension, I'd think this is around 3x magnification at the sensor.

OK, thanks for the additional information. The resolution of this lens seems to be excellent... I have a Zeiss photar. Do you think this lens - at its optimal aperture - is better or worse (or equivalent) than an achromatic 4x microscope objective or your Olympus lens for magnifications between 3:1 and 8:1 ? I also take advantage of this post for thanking you for your website that was a very good source of information for my first focus stack attempts !

Aren't the Photar's from Leitz? (Anyway if it's the lens I think it is, then assuming you have a good copy it should stand up well to any 4x objective and probably the Oly 38mm as well) - I would imagine that optimal sharpness would come from this lens wide open...)
