Any idea of a name for this organism? I found something a couple of days ago in St. Louis County, MO. which looks somewhat similar. It was a very vivid yellow and was growing on decaying wood llike your photo shows. I was looking for fungi and saw this. Figured it to be a slime mold. Thanks.

I believe this is the beautifully named Dog Vomit slime mold (Fuligo septica)

lol we wax so poetic sometimes in naming various genera. I think I found the same on a recent hike at Point Reyes in California www.flickr.com/photos/skysaker/8133243292/ Your photos are nothing but amazing throughout!
