Totally amazing...I guess this scarab was dead or at sleep for you to be able to do such macro? MP-E65? Seen in Closer and Closer Macro Photography

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/doomaeternus] Yes the specimen is deceased, as are nearly all of my deep focus stacks.. No not MPE, much more magnification than that lens provides, a Nikon 40x microscope objective!

Laurie, how do you collect your specimens? Do you use ether to "knock them out"? Thanks for the reply, really amazing work you have here

I collect them by hand with little plastic pots, quite a lot get away! I use the freezer to dispatch them...
